Khariar College, at present known as Khariar (Auto) College, ever since its birth in 1977 has been fledgling its branches into a vast area of studies year after year. Now it has occupied a special niche of name and fame all over Orissa and is valued as a treasury of eruditions in the Western Orissa. It covers Science, Arts and Commerce Streams in both +2 and +3 classes with CHSE and CBCS syllabus respectively facilitating the students with various subjects. Besides it all, it facilitates the students with M.A,M.Sc (Hindi,Odia,Pol.Sc,and Chemistry),IGNOU Study Centre, Odisha State University Study centre, self-financed Diploma courses in Environmental Science, Journalism and Mass Communication,Sports and Games Management courses.The students of N.C.C and Red Cross have added pages of appraisal in the national level. The institution feels proud to have outstandingly talented and vigorous staff members who continuously have been contributing their best for the college. The students as well, coming out of this college make the institution feel proud and glorious being placed in many significant positions and for their flabbergasting outward curricular activities. Khariar college was established on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dasami on 21st of October,1977.Having affiliated to Sambalpur University,the college began with only 67 students.It got permanent government concurrence in 1979 for IA & 1980 for BA.In 1986,the college shifted to its present new building,built on the donated plot by RANI SAHIBA Soubhagya Manjari Devi which comprises of a land area of 30.25 Acres.The new campus is named Braj Raj Vihar.This institution having accredated by NAAC got autonomous status from the session 2012-13.At present the college has Arts,Science and Commerce at the +2 & +3 level with honours in all affiliated subjects.In PG level offring MA in(Pol.Sc.,Odia & Hindi) and in M.Sc.(Chemistry).Special coaching beyond the class hours is provided to the students at the +3 level.There are scope to acquire Certificate Course in addition to Degree and Diploma.
